Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: This key HR role will serve as a partner to both our retail field and corporate management teams. In this role, you will become well versed in state and federal labor and compliance laws as well as best practices in conducting internal investigations. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Associate Relations

  • Partner with corporate and field management on HR issues (performance management, disciplinary action, investigations, policy interpretation, legal matters, etc.).
  • Protect the company from legal exposure by ensuring consistency nationwide in all areas noted above.
  • Coordinate and/or assist in the execution of investigations, as needed.
  • Analyze candidate behavioral assessments and provide feedback to hiring managers.
  • Act as member of HR Department's Reasonable Accommodation Committee in reviewing all job accommodation requests.
  • Help manage company's unemployment claim process.

Compliance

  • Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure appropriate compliance procedures are in place.
  • Work with HR Management to update company policies and procedures, as needed.
  • Maintain documentation of compliance activities (complaints received, steps taken, outcomes).
  • Assist in monitoring ongoing compliance tracking of EI9 completion, meal break punches, labor law posters, electronic policy acknowledgements, etc.
  • Stay up to date on evolving state and federal employment laws and provide updates, as needed.
  • Respond to employment verifications, subpoenas, requests for copies of personnel files, etc.
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of harassment training, as needed.
  • Research and gather data to assist with responses to EEOC claims and other legal matters.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors' degree preferred
  • 0 to 3 years' experience
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Flexibility to travel up to 3 times/year

SKILLS:

  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Very high attention to detail.
  • Ability to conduct confidential investigations.
