Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: Partners with Sourcing Director, Product Development, Quality Assurance & Control, Technical Designers, Merchants and Vendors to ensure products meet DXLG quality, on-time delivery, and cost and performance requirement. Manage vendor relationships to ensure continuous improvement in meeting DXLG's existing and growth needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Associate Sourcing Manager will be independently responsible for the overall development, costing and production of a product category as well as support the Sourcing Director across multiple product categories.
  • Build strong relationships with Cross Functional partners inclusive of Merchants, Planning, Tech Design, CAD Artist, QA and QC teams.
  • Participate in sourcing strategy meetings to understand margin expectation, speed to market and ensure all seasonal goals are achieved.
  • Lead weekly Product Development /Production meetings with Tech Design and Merchants to resolve outstanding and pending issues.
  • Participate in weekly fittings to understand DXLG's fit and quality requirements and follow up on production deadlines.
  • Responsible for all follow up and approvals of Lab Dips, Handlooms, Strike-Offs, Bulk Fabric and Trims.
  • Request and manage any sample needs and follow up with vendors to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Process size scales from Merchants ensuring that vendor confirms delivery, costing, and units to ensure vendors have accurate information before processing PO.
  • Work with Quality Assurance & Control team to trouble-shoot testing and quality issues.
  • Proficient in operating the PLM system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSBA degree in Business, Fashion or related experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in overseas sourcing, buying/merchandising in retail or manufacturing organization.
  • Knowledge of fabrics, dying/printing processes and garment construction.
  • Worldwide travel required as business warrants.

 SKILLS:

  • Proven computer skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, Product Life Management system (P.L.M.).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to effectively communicate on an International level.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing cycle from product development through delivery.
  • Cost and negotiation skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Detailed orientedand excellent follow up
