Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: This associate works closely with and assists the Technical Design Team in the commercialization of products from design, development, construction and production.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Technical Designer to create technical specifications from design concept to actual product. Assists in managing and updating the tech pack accurately and timely in the PLM system. Assisting the Tech Designer with measuring fit samples, taking notes at fittings, assisting with sketches when required.
  • Schedule fit sessions on behalf of the Tech Designers and ensure the availability of live models when necessary.
  • Able to communicate fit issues and corrective action to vendors / suppliers on behalf of the Technical Designer through the Tech Designer's guidance. Able to support in communication when necessary internally to cross functional teams. Communicate daily with overseas and domestic agents/vendors regarding sample tracking.
  • Organize and maintain the sample room for Technical Design Team.
  • Work independently and in coordination with the Tech Design Team. Able to prioritize work load based on sense of urgency, deadlines and seasonal time and action calendar requirement.
  • Update tech pack with changes timely and accurately. Ensure vendors' understanding and commitment to change.
  • Follow through on communication with Directors of Sourcing and Tech Design Team for specific needs from Merchants.
  • Provide support & feedback for Quality Assurance & Control, Customer Service and Technical Design areas as requested.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design or Patternmaking / Apparel Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of fabric / yarn construction in woven and knits, sweater construction, and pattern making/grading.
  • Knowledge in garment construction
  • Proven computer skills and experience using on-line specification packages and sketching programs such as PLM, PDM, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Strong communication skills -- written and verbal.

SKILLS:

  • Strong organizational skills required to maintain all tech packs, time and action calendar.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, (verbal and written) and the ability to effectively communicate and present on an international level.
  • Positive team player, attention to details, analytical and solution oriented
